About Us
Keslntrr. is the largest supplier of tropical barkcloth to the home furnishing industry. Our styles are sold worldwide, and we have offices and warehouses in Honolulu and Chicago. Our history with barkcloth dates back to the 1950s, and many of our designs have been in our product line for over 25 years.
What is barkcloth?
The Hawaiian word for "barkcloth" is "kapa." Traditionally, kapa was made from the waukee tree. After the bark was removed, it was soaked in fresh water to soften the fibers. The softened cloth was then beaten twice to create a flat sheet. In ancient Hawaiian culture, kapa symbolized status and prestige, often used by royalty and given as gifts.
Today, barkcloth is made from 100% cotton, with a surface texture reminiscent of cushion covers from the early 1950s. Barkcloth is an ideal choice for residential design projects.
Our Bark Cloth
Our bark cloth is made from 100% cotton; it's a heavy, woven fabric primarily used in rattan creations. We are proud to be one of the largest suppliers of tropical print decorative fabrics. All patterns feature our original, copyrighted designs.
Caring for Bark Cloth: Wash in cold water and hang to dry, or spot clean as needed. Do not bleach.
